About

I built Health for myself. I wanted one place to keep an eye on the things I actually care about following day to day, without juggling several apps or handing my data to a dozen different services. It does what I need today, and I add new functionality over time as my own needs grow. If something feels focused and to-the-point rather than bloated, that is on purpose.

Health brings together five things in a single, easy-to-read app:

Everything is organized around a day view: pick any date, and the app shows your food, activity, and health metrics for that day.

Feature tour

Food & calorie logging

Daily goal ring

The goal ring is the heart of the home screen. It shows your net calories (what you ate minus what you burned) against your daily goal, with your protein, carbs, and fat beside it. You can set a goal manually, or let the app calculate a maintenance estimate from your body stats (using the well-known Mifflin-St Jeor formula) and use that as your goal.

Daily summary

A compact summary card gives you the day at a glance: calories eaten, calories burned, steps, distance, and - when available - your latest weight and blood pressure for that day.

Body stats & maintenance calories

Enter your sex, age, height, weight, activity level, and (optionally) resting heart rate. Health estimates how many calories you need per day to maintain your current weight, and can turn that estimate into your daily goal with one tap.

Exercise & heart-rate workouts

Walking & steps

Health reads your steps and walking distance from Health Connect, so anything that syncs there (for example Samsung Health) shows up automatically. It can also estimate the calories from walking and optionally fold them into your daily burn.

Weight tracking

Blood pressure

History & calorie deficit

A tabbed History screen lets you scroll back through your food, exercise, walking, blood pressure, and weight records. It also includes a calorie deficit view that compares the calories you took in against your sedentary maintenance plus your logged activity, and relates that to your expected and actual weight change over the week.

Backup & restore

Your data lives on your device. Health includes a one-tap export that saves everything - food, exercise, walking, weight, blood pressure, custom foods, and settings - to a single file, and an import to restore it. This is handy when moving to a new phone or before reinstalling.

Getting started

  1. Set your body stats. Open Body stats (the person icon) and fill in your details to get a maintenance calorie estimate, then optionally set it as your daily goal.
  2. Log your first food. Scan a barcode or search for a food, adjust the serving, and add it to your day.
  3. Connect Health Connect (optional). On the Walking card, connect Health Connect to pull in steps and distance from your phone or wearable. Weight and blood pressure can sync the same way.
  4. Add a workout (optional). Log exercise manually, or connect a Polar monitor for a live heart-rate session.
  5. Check in over time. Use the History screen and the weight and blood-pressure trends to see how things are trending.
